Southern District Racing Association steward Liam Martin confirmed the meeting was off after a track inspection late on Friday.
Only light rain had fallen throughout the day but with the forecast for plenty on the way, on top of what came last weekend, the decision was made early rather than waiting for race day.
"There was a little bit of surface water present and sections of the track were unsuitable for racing," Martin said.
The meeting is officially postponed at this stage, rather than abandoned, but it's the second time in a fortnight that the club's bonus pick-up meeting has fallen victim to wet weather, meaning another rescheduling could be unlikely.
Tumut trainer Kerry Weir said it was a disappointing turn of events, not only after the Sunday November 7 meeting was washed out at Tumut, but Gundagai's 'Hair of the Dog' meeting last Saturday was also abandoned the day after Snake Gully Cup.
"We hadn't had much rain but the stewards called it," Weir said.
"There's a heap of rain predicted later (on Friday night). It's a shame.
"It's not good for racing in the area losing all these meetings, I can tell you."
Tumut Turf Club had applied for the additional meeting after Adaminaby decided not to race a couple of months ago.
The club usually holds four meetings a year. The traditional Derby Day meeting went ahead on October 31 (Weir won three of the five races).
Now, it's a wait until after Christmas when they hope to be back with a Boxing Day bang.
"Boxing Day is our next scheduled one, touch wood. Hopefully the rain might have gone by then," Weir said.
The club has a TAB meeting set down for mid-January and the annual Tumut Cup meeting on February 12.
