In 2020, overdue fines were abolished across the Riverina Regional Library network, and the Christmas Food Appeal replaced the previous 'Food for Fines' amnesty.
Last year, members of the public proved as generous as they have always been, donating plenty of non-perishable food items to help local people in need, and we are confident they will again in 2021.
From November 29, donations can be made inside the library's main entrance, at our bookshelf Christmas tree.
We urge anyone making a donation to ensure that all items are non-perishable, and well within their use-by dates.
Donations will not be distributed until early 2022, so we are unable to accept any food that will expire before then.
Many people like to donate Christmas-themed items, and while this is welcome, it is certainly not necessary.
Household staple items are always valued, so we encourage donations of everything from rice and flour to canned goods, baby formula and long-life milk.
All donations will delivered via a local charity to families in need, and we thank the public in advance for any contribution they can make.
Our last Tech Savvy Seniors class for the year, Part 2 of Introduction to the Internet, will take place next Friday. This session is for those who attended Part 1, but Tech Savvy Seniors will return with new classes from February 2022, offering small group tuition in the use of tablets and smartphones, navigating the internet, and online banking and shopping.
