To 8pm Wednesday night the MLHD recorded 14 new cases of the virus, with 11 of these being residents of the Albury LGA.

Two cases are residents of the Federation LGA, while one is from Griffith.

It is the first day since November 5 that Wagga hasn't recorded any new cases.

Currently 97.8 per cent of MLHD residents over 16 have received their first dose of a COVID vaccine, while 93 per cent are fully vaccinated.

For those aged 12-15, 83.2 per cent have received a first dose and 69.9 per cent are fully immunised.

"Vaccination is the best way to protect our kids, families and the wider community from COVID-19," an MLHD spokesperson said.

"This is an important step in getting our community back to a 'COVID-normal' environment and importantly, to protect others who may be more vulnerable to illness."

The MLHD is currently managing the critical care of 101 patients across the district with COVID-19.

Of these patients one is in the ICU, while the rest are receiving care in the community.

Meanwhile, the MLHD is encouraging those eligible to come forward for a COVID vaccination booster shot, with NSW Health state-run clinics now offering Pfizer to those over 18.

People over 18 are eligible to receive a booster dose at least six months after receiving their second primary dose.

"This booster shot will help people maintain a high level of protection against the COVID-19 virus, including the Delta variant," an MLHD spokesperson said.

On Thursday New South Wales reported 262 new cases of the virus, up 31 from the previous day, and three deaths.

Today's cases were diagnosed from more than 80,000 COVID-19 tests.

It is the third consecutive day that the state's numbers has risen, with Premier Dominic Perrottet warning on Wednesday that NSW might see cases and hospitalisations increase.

Across the state 94.3 per cent of people over 16 have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccination while 91.4 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Currently 199 people with COVID are in hospital, down from 207 on Wednesday, including 29 in intensive care.

Vaccinations can be booked at more than 100 providers across the Riverina by using healthdirect.gov.au.

Testing in Wagga is available at the MLHD's Murray Street testing clinic between 9am and 4pm daily or the drive-through site at Wagga Showground until 6pm daily, at Laverty Pathology's drive-through site in the Riverina Playhouse car park off Tarcutta and Cross streets from 8am daily, and at the GP-led respiratory clinic at Glenrock in Glenfield Park between 9am and 5pm weekdays.

"Anyone currently experiencing, or who has recently experienced, even mild cold-like symptoms is asked to come forward for testing," an MLHD spokesperson said.

"If you have any symptoms it is important that you isolate until you can be tested and until you get a negative result.

"Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, runny nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches or pains, and a change in taste or smell."
