After failing to win a game in the Waratah League last year, 20 players have registered for team trials this Saturday morning at the Bolton Park courts.
Maloney took over the role last season and mentored an extremely young group, and has also recently been appointed Basketball Wagga's coaching development officer.
"There's a much better feeling than it was this time last year, when we were chasing players and trying to get people to come along to trials," Maloney said.
"There's a lot of buzz from the boys to get it up and running, and having a year under our belts should make it easier.
"We had our junior rep trials recently and they were very successful with over 120 kids there. We're looking good to field teams in every grade except the under-14 girls."
