But Goulburn trainer Scott Collings was not far behind.
Both enjoyed winning trebles at Gundagai on Friday, with Olive taking the points because his included the feature, the $100,000 Snake Gully Cup (1400m).
Olive enjoyed success with Tejori ($3.70) and Sly Song ($11) before Ready To Humble ($3.70) claimed the feature.
Olive revealed he feared rain would wash out the meeting just as he looked to be bringing a strong team to Gundagai's big day.
"Unreal," Olive said.
"I've been cursing all week because I feared I was getting these horses peaked up and we're not going to race. I didn't think we'd get to this point but it's so good."
The earlier wins were still sweet for Olive, particularly Sly Song's win in the $50,000 TAB Country Magic Benchmark 58 Showcase Handicap (1400m).
It was the mare's third win for Olive, who proved another tried purchase success.
"My family owns that horse, so it's been a great day," Olive said.
"She's been a consistent mare and did well today."
Brendan Ward guided Sly Song to victory, beating Would Be King ($21) and Miss Elsie May ($6.00).
Tejori, ridden by Jeff Penza, claimed the Tumblong Hills Class Three Showcase Handicap (1180m), bolting in by three and a half lengths from Choccy Gaf ($14) and Chevconi ($1.90).
Olive opted for Gundagai over a race at Canterbury on Friday night. The horse was also balloted from the Highway at Newcastle on Saturday.
"It's great for the owners," Olive said.
"We've been struggling to get into Highways. We got in one the other day and she missed the start and didn't have much luck. Even Tommy (Berry) would put his hand up and say it wasn't one of the greatest rides but it's great to see her bounce back today and win.
"I was just desperate to get her back in the winner's circle, she's been racing so bravely without winning so it's good to get a win for her again."
As for how Olive planned to celebrate his great success on Friday, a quiet night was planned.
"I'll go home to my two kids," Olive said.
"We'll celebrate at some other stage."
