A Wagga school has closed for cleaning as the region records dozens of new COVID-19 cases across eight council areas.

The death of a woman aged in her 90s at the Mercy Place aged care home in Albury was also announced by the Murrumbidgee Local Health District [MLHD]. She is the ninth death to be linked to an outbreak at the facility.
Albury residents were most represented in the 33 COVID cases detected in the MLHD in the 24 hours to 8pm Monday, with 21 new patients.
Three more were discovered in the Snowy Valleys local government area [LGA], which alongside Temora at the weekend recorded its first case of the outbreak.
Positive tests were returned for two residents in Wagga, two in Griffith and two in the Murray River LGA.
In other news
Single cases were also recorded in Temora, Federation and Greater Hume council areas.
Kooringal's Sacred Heart Primary School community is on stand-by and waiting on health advice while the premises undergo deep cleaning and contact tracing begins on Tuesday.
The Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga [CEDWW] confirmed a member of the school community had tested positive to COVID-19, and urged patience.
"All staff and students are asked to self-isolate until they receive further advice," the organisation said in a statement.
"Catholic Education, Diocese of Wagga Wagga and Sacred Heart Primary School will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff is maintained."
The MLHD confirmed it is working to support the school in the wake of the positive test result.
"The school is working to identify close and casual contacts and will communicate directly with those impacted regarding testing and isolation requirements," the MLHD said.
There has now been 21 COVID cases detected in Wagga since the start of the current outbreak.
Meanwhile, a large funeral held in Wagga on Friday was yesterday listed as an exposure site when it emerged a COVID-positive person was in attendance.
Anyone who attended the service at Chambers Park in Tolland must come forward for testing and isolate until a negative result is received, the MLHD said.
A walk-in clinic has been deployed to the Tolland Community Centre and will be open until 3pm on Tuesday.
People who attended the venue will be followed up with by NSW Health, advising if they are a close or casual contact and what their next steps should be
The interstate situation
The west and northern sectors of the Riverina have been asked to limit their movements and monitor for symptoms after an outbreak with a Far West LHD neighbour.
The small town of Ivanhoe has recorded 13 cases since Friday, after being COVID-free so far in the pandemic.
Its community is heavily connected with Hay and Griffith, which fall in the MLHD, prompting a caution from its chief executive Jill Ludford.
Her message to Riverina communities with high interconnectivity to Ivanhoe is to minimise their activity for a short period of time.

People in Griffith can get tested daily at the MLHD testing clinic at 50-52 Yambil Street between 9.30am and 1.30pm, or at the Laverty drive-through clinic at Griffith Showground from 8am Monday to Saturday.
Testing in Wagga remains available at the MLHD's Murray Street testing clinic between 9am and 4pm daily, at Laverty Pathology's drive-through site in the Riverina Playhouse car park off Tarcutta and Cross streets from 8am daily, and at the GP-led respiratory clinic at Glenrock in Glenfield Park between 9am and 5pm weekdays.
