Two vehicles collided near a bend on the Sturt Highway between Gillenbah and Waddi on Thursday afternoon.
A pair of trayback 4WD utes sustained serious damage in the collision, which occurred around 5.30pm and drew a strong emergency services response.
Members of the public performed traffic control at the scene around 40 kilometres west of Narrandera, until police and paramedics arrived.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance confirmed that one person was transported to Griffith Base Hospital with facial injuries, possibly from a deployed airbag.

NSW Police confirmed one driver will be receiving a penalty notice over the incident.
Firefighters and the Leeton Volunteer Rescue Association also attended.
That crash came just hours after a motorcyclist fatally collided with a rail near Tumut and three hours before a truck accident killed a man near Mangoplah, south of Wagga.
Both of the men have been identified as Sydney residents.
The following morning saw a head-on between two vehicles on the Kidman Way, putting a man in hospital.
Three crews of paramedics were tasked to the scene around four kilometres south of Wilbriggie just before 8.50am on Friday, responding to reports of a two-car collision.
Three patients were treated at the scene, with one later taken to Griffith Base Hospital.
The man, believed to be aged in his 60s, sustained a suspected broken leg in the crash, NSW Ambulance said.
Police investigations into the circumstances leading up to the crash are continuing.
