A mix of current councillors, fresh faces and previous candidates make up the list of council hopefuls who will be looking to gather community support ahead of the December 4 election.
Wagga mayor Greg Conkey and councillors Kerry Pascoe and Yvonne Braid have each chosen not to run again, with their names all absent from the ballot.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Councillor Pascoe, who has twice served as the city's mayor, was previously listed as a candidate but pulled out in recent days following a reconsideration.
"I had some discussions with family and other business people that I'm around and I decided not to stand again," he told The Daily Advertiser.
"It's a load off my shoulders and now I can get on with my business that I want to do and enjoy life."
NSW Electoral Commission representatives conducted the ballot draw in Wagga on Thursday afternoon to determine the order the candidates will appear on the ballot paper come election day.
Jenny McKinnon came out top in the draw, where she will lead the Wagga Greens ticket.
The Labor ticket led by councillor Dan Hayes drew second spot, followed by tickets led by councillors Dallas Tout, Rod Kendall and newcomer Georgie Davies.
Springvale resident Rosina Gordon secured the top spot for the list of five ungrouped candidates, followed by Robert Sinclair and Daniel Vieira.
Holding the number one spot on the ballot paper is seen as fortunate as it can help a candidate secure donkey votes or votes from electors otherwise not engaged in the voting process.
Dr McKinnon said she was very excited to have secured the top spot and was looking forward to the election campaign.
"It's something you hope for but you certainly don't expect so it's lovely and we're very excited about it," she said.
"It's been a bit of a marathon because the election has been delayed twice but it feels like we have set a foundation and now over this next month or so we can really kick into gear."
Five of Wagga's eight current councillors have put their name forward for re-election, with Tim Koschel, Dan Hayes, Rod Kendall, Dallas Tout and Vanessa Keenan all back in the running.
Former councillor Paul Funnell is back in the running just four months after resigning from his position part way through the final year of his term due to serious concerns about his health.
Independent Georgie Davies was excited by the prospect of fresh faces with new ideas securing a spot at the table.
"This election is particularly exciting because there is a really good opportunity for Wagga to have some new faces on council," she said.
"I think everyone is just really excited to get this election happening."
