There were 25 new cases detected in the region in the 24 hours to 8pm Monday, the MLHD confirmed.

Fifteen of the new cases are residents of the Albury local government area, and the Murray River LGA has recorded another six on top of Monday's eight.

Wagga's new two cases brings its tally of the outbreak to 14, the majority of which have emerged in the city in the last week.

In other news

There has now been 619 cases across the health district in this outbreak, and six deaths.

Five of those are linked to the Mercy Place aged care home in Albury.

The local revelations come as the state fast-tracks reopening, bringing forward the much-touted December 1 major easing of restrictions to next week.

The unvaccinated, however, will be left behind until either December 15 or when the state hits 95 per cent double-vaccinated.

The interstate, trans-Tasman situation

The MLHD has also sought to placate concerns about the lack of available information on recent COVID cases in the Riverina.

Over the past week, residents and politicians in Wagga have expressed concerns with the new approach to how exposure sites are labelled and shared.

MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford has advised that this change reflected the shift to a "living with COVID" approach.

While no further detections have been made in sewage surveillance in the last 24 hours, fragments of the virus have recently been found in Wagga, Leeton and Young.

Leeton residents seeking a test locally can do so between 9am and 11am on weekdays, by dropping into the Leeton Hospital in Myall Street or booking an appointment through the hotline.

Increased testing in Albury is available at the Westside Community Centre between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday and 9am and 2pm on Thursday.

Walk-ins are accepted or bookings can be made through the hotline.

Wagga residents can get tested at the MLHD's Murray Street clinic between 9am and 4pm daily, or at the drive-through site at Equex on Copland street between 1pm and 6pm.

It's also available at the GP-led respiratory clinic at Glenrock in Glenfield Park between 9am and 5pm weekdays, or the Laverty Pathology drive-through site on at the Riverina Playhouse car park off Tarcutta Street between 8am and 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 3pm Fridays, and 8am to 1pm on weekends.
