IN OTHER NEWS:
The vaccination rate is also steadily increasing across the country, with 74.1 per cent of Australians over 16 now fully vaccinated.
The data comes as the Therapeutic Goods Administration on Wednesday gave provisional approval for Australians over 18 to receive a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
It is recommended that the booster shot be given at least six months after a person's second dose, with third doses already approved for severely immunocompromised people.
The Prime Minister said the government would finalise plans for the rollout within the next week.
