Nominations have officially opened for candidates planning to contest the council elections.

Prospective candidates have until noon on Wednesday, November 3 to put their name in the running to represent their local communities.

The elections were originally set to take place on September 4 last year but following multiple postponements due to COVID-19 they will now be on December 4, 2021.

Wagga City Council's governance manager Ingrid Hensley said candidates who have already submitted nominations during the earlier periods must do so again.

"Candidates, registered political parties and candidate representatives are now able to prepare their nomination and group forms online," Ms Hensley said.

"Because the election date was moved, anyone who submitted their nomination prior to the change of date will need to do so again.

"This will ensure the information submitted in nomination forms is accurate and current."

Ms Hensley also encouraged residents to double check their enrolment details and even potentially volunteer to work at the elections through the NSW Electoral Commission website.
