Hundreds of families and friends turned out to the Markets by the Lake event to taste delicious food and peruse the handmade clothes, christmas decorations and homewares.

The markets returned from an extended hiatus due to COVID-19 in September and last weekend was meant to be the return of the night market edition, however the event was postponed to October 23 due to wet and windy conditions.

Despite the setback, event organiser and stallholder Rebecca Medhurst said the turnout was as strong as ever.

"It has been absolutely fantastic, the roll up has been great and the weather has been much kinder to us this week than it was going to be last week," she said.

"There has been the odd gust coming through but it hasn't been too bad at all."

Ms Medhurst said she had worried changing the date of the event would result in lower numbers but was delighted to say that hadn't been the case.

"It's been great with the turn up that we've got today because when you change the date of an event you always wonder if you will get the people here but they have all turned out with is amazing."

"This is the first night market of the season so it seems like everyone was really keen and there were a few stallholders that couldn't get here last week so we've actually ended up with more stalls than we would have had last week."

Markets by the Lake is held at Apex Park once each month and is the main fundraiser for CanAssist Wagga.
