The Murrumbidgee Local Health District [MLHD] confirmed a resident of the Albury local government area [LGA] with underlying health conditions succumbed to the virus prior to 8pm on Monday.
"Murrumbidgee Local Health District extends our sincere condolences to the person's family and loved ones, and the whole Albury community," the authority said on Tuesday morning.
Another 10 cases of the virus were detected in the MLHD for the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, with the region's tally of the Delta outbreak now standing at 115.
NSW's chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant announced 273 cases for the state, with the first dose vaccination rate passing 92 per cent, and 80.8 percent of people over 16 are now fully-vaccinated.
A sobering 18 new exposure sites in several southern Riverina communities have also been listed by NSW Health.

Seven of the newly-diagnosed COVID patients are Albury residents, with three linked to known cases and four still being investigated.
Further inquiries are being carried out after a resident in both of each the Federation and Edward Riverina LGAs were found to have the virus.
The remaining case - a resident of the Greater Hume area - is a household contact of a previously-announced case.
It comes after 45 new cases were detected in the region in the three days prior.
The interstate, trans-Tasman situation
The strong message from the health authority is to get tested, seek a vaccination and for four of the region's council areas, to stay close to home.
"Residents in Albury, Edward River, Greater Hume and Murray River LGAs are urged to limit their movements in and out of the community at this time and widespread COVID-19 testing is critical," the MLHD said.
