A development application submitted to Wagga City Council has proposed family friendly drive-in movies in the venue's large front-facing car park as a 'pop up' entertainment option for the city.
Licensee at the Red Steer Ben Stratton said they were inspired by similar outdoor cinema experiences in the Riverina and larger cities when submitting the application with Wagga City Council.
"We like the open air community environment and vibe," Mr Stratton said.

He said though the plans are in the early stages, they are envisioning an American diner-style event for the drive-in with specially curated food and drink options.
"So we thought we would give the Red Steer a diner-style experience that could be interesting and a bit novel, a unique take on that experience," he said.
"We would serve meals to people in their cars and recreate some of that nostalgia associated with the drive-in experience that the young generation haven't had before."
A statement of environmental impacts for the proposal submitted to council shows the event would be a 'pop up' style with five initial sessions planned, an outdoor screen to be brought in and out for each.
There will be space for about 57 cars, with the event able to cater to a capacity of 171 patrons.
The event is proposed to run from 4PM to 10PM at the latest, and the projected cost of the project would be just over $5000.
Currently being determined by council, if approved Mr Stratton hopes to have the drive-in movies up and running by mid-autumn next year.
He said he was inspired by the desire for more activities around Wagga, and hope the concept will be attractive to existing and new patrons.
"I guess the motivation towards those things is there's a point of difference," he said. "The goal is to attract new patrons ... [as well as] to cater for the people who already come here who want to try something different at the pub, see new faces and have a fun experience."
