But although he couldn't quite finish off a strong finish to win, Irish Song's dead heat for fourth was another solid result for the SPC with replacement runners in the world's richest race for country horses.
After Front Page was scratched due to injury after the SPC had chosen it as a slotholder for the second straight year during the week, the SPC's hopes were riding on Nadaraja ($26) and Irish Songs ($21) in the $1.3 million, 1200m event.
Nadaraja led for the first half of the race but didn't appear to handle the soft conditions and went wide on the turn before finishing second last.
From the widest barrier, Irish Songs settled toward the tail of the field and looked a real threat to swamp the leaders, before finishing equal fourth with Edit ($5.50) behind winner Art Cadeux ($4 favourite), Handle The Truth ($7) and Spiranac ($12).

The SPC will share in $48,750 total prizemoney with connections of Goulburn runner Irish Songs, who won last year's Wagga Town Plate.
In 2018 the SPC selected Care To Think for its slot, only for the favourite to be scratched. Their replacement, Awesome Pluck, finished third.
SPC member Sam Edwards said the week was bittersweet after Front Page's scratching was followed by a strong display from Irish Songs.
"I'm not 100 per cent sure what the prizemoney is for a dead heat for fourth, but it's money back in the kitty so we were pretty happy with that," he said.

"I had the eye on Nadaraja to be honest for most of the race. He started well and had a good jump, led the race and got a bit wide, so we'll have a debrief and see what happened.
"t was an unknown on the soft track, we thought it might still go OK. It took the turn a bit wide and got lost.
