About 12.45am on Thursday, emergency services were alerted that a vehicle was on fire near the Botanic Gardens in Turvey Park.
Fire and Rescue Riverina Zone Commander Superintendent Stewart Alexander said the initial reports were it was a bushfire near Mimosa Drive at Turvey Park, but "thankfully it wasn't".
"Two trucks attended, and it was extinguished, but unfortunately, the car has been destroyed," he said.

"Fortunately, the grass is still green, and there was wet weather, but car fires are still very dangerous with the risk of developing into something out of control."
The vehicle is believed to be a Holden Captiva. However, no further description is available at this point due to the extent of the damage, a statement from NSW Police said.
"Investigations are ongoing, and police are calling on witnesses or anyone with information to come forward," the statement said.
