Just after 6pm on March 4, Smith was driving south along Bourke Street, Tolland when she turned right into Bruce Street, crashing into a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction.
The rider flew off his bike, hit the car's windshield and then fell onto the road, where he lost consciousness.
Smith told police at the scene that she had slowed down to turn when she felt a "big smash", but she did not realise she hit a person until she pulled over and got out of the car.
The victim suffered injuries to his head as well as broken ribs, a fractured wrist and a collapsed lung.

In court on Wednesday, Smith's solicitor told the court that it was a "terrible accident".
"She is quite remorseful," he said. "She has never been before the court before."
The solicitor said Smith works as a pastry chef and needs her licence to work early shifts, adding he was asking the court to deal with her in a "lenient way".
Magistrate Robert Stone acknowledged that Smith had a very good record and her need to have a driver's licence.
"I accept that it was momentary inattention that caused this accident," he said. "This gentleman sustained quite serious injuries, and I am obliged to take that into account."
Smith was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
