
Twelve people have been evacuated from a business on Wagga's main street after reports of a building fire came through to emergency services.
Firefighters were called to Baretta Lane, behind Baylis Street, at 12.10pm and shortly discovered a bin that was alight behind the shop.

Fire and Rescue NSW zone commander Stewart Alexander said the flames had been extinguished, but a HAZMAT team was on its way as a precaution to ensure the contents of the bin are contained safely.

"There is some smoke clogging in there, so we are ventilating that out too," he said.
"About 12 people evacuated from the shop. They should be returned soon."
Superintendent Alexander said it was a timely reminder to call Triple 0 as soon as possible to notify emergency services.
