A Riverina man accused of hitting another man with a metal pole and later threatening a police officer has been released on bail after facing court charged with multiple offences.

About 1.20am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a unit complex on Berthong Street in Young after reports of an assault.
Police have been told two men, aged 63 and 34, were involved in a verbal altercation.
The older man walked away, before the younger man followed him and allegedly threatened him and assaulted him with a metal pole.

The 63-year-old sustained a deep laceration to his hand, as well as bruising to his arm. He was taken to Young District Hospital for treatment.
Officers arrested the 34-year-old man, who police allege later intimidated and threatened a female constable at Young police station.
The man from Young was charged with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, malicious damage, and intimidate police.
He appeared in Young Local Court on Tuesday and was granted strict conditional bail.
His matter returns to court on November 12.
