The new high of $399.20 was paid by processor Fletcher International Exports of Dubbo for a stand-out pen of extra-heavy White Suffolk lambs.
Vendors Eric Douglas and his son Ashley of "Cora-Lynn" at Kikoira met the market with the lambs, estimated to weigh around 45-kilograms dressed.
Genetics from a self-replacing White Suffolk operation certainly earned kudos.
Livestock agent Tim Drum of Riverina Livestock Agents described the lambs, which were finished on clover, as "exceptional."
Throughout the sale other pens had made an admirable high of $380, to give the record a convincing nudge, but buyers were seeking out the quality and weight of this particular pen of 77 extra-heavy exports.
"They were really big and heavy, and these extra-heavy lambs are getting a bit rare at the moment," he said.
In terms of estimating how long Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre might hold claim over this latest lamb record, Mr Drum conceded it was difficult to determine because the values were so high.
There was no double other centres including Bendigo in Victoria, and Griffith would continue to jostle for records into the future too.
"I would say this (record) will stay for a while, but who knows," he said.
It was Bob, Judy, Melissa and Joanne Rodham who sold the stand-out lambs in September.
The 54 suckers went under the hammer for a high of $340 weighing an estimated 33kg to 34kg dressed weight were bought by JBS Melbourne.
The new-season lambs were described as being testament to the Rodhams of "East Cranbrook" at Uranquinty to top the market with exceptional quality lambs.
A total of 54 made $340 and the lambs, weighing an estimated 33kg to 34kg dressed, were bought by JBS Melbourne.
