About 2.50pm on Saturday, officers from Riverina Traffic and Highway Patrol attended an address on Banksia Crescent, Tumut, where they arrested a 37-year-old woman on alleged outstanding warrants.

The woman was taken to hospital where she tested positive to COVID-19 and is undergoing further assessment.

A statement from NSW Police said officers followed COVID-19 safe protocol during the arrest, wearing PPE and maintaining distance.

A Murrumbidgee Local Health District spokesperson said a resident from outside of the district who tested positive in Tumut has been transferred to Wagga Base Hospital for care.

"The source of infection is currently under investigation," they said.

"MLHD encourages anyone in the Snowy Valley's area to come forward for testing if they are experiencing even the mildest of symptoms."

Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose and loss of taste or smell.

Other symptoms include fatigue, acute blocked nose (congestion), muscle pain, joint pain, headache, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, unexplained chest pain and conjunctivitis.
