From Monday, patients in hospitals and multi-purpose services across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District are able to welcome two fully-vaccinated visitors for up to two hours per day.
The same will apply for residents in MPSs. However children under 12 will not be permitted.
"It's been a very difficult period for families of patients in hospitals and in our aged-care facilities over the last number of weeks," MLHD chief executive Jill Ludford said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ms Ludford said if visitors of a paediatric, maternity or end-of-life patient have only received one dose of the vaccine, or are unvaccinated, a risk-assessment process will take place around the possibility of visitation to make it as safe as possible.
Ms Ludford also assured the community that all patients, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, will be welcomed at hospitals across the district.
"We care for people no matter their vaccination status," she said.
