The MLHD have confirmed the person who tested positive attended the school while infectious, and contact tracing interviews are currently underway.
"The new case is member of the school community at Kildare Catholic College in Wagga Wagga and has attended the school site during their infectious period," a spokesperson confirmed.

"NSW Health is working with the Catholic Schools NSW and the Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga to identify and notify close and casual contacts of the person and provide appropriate health advice to them.
"Contact tracing interviews are underway and Murrumbidgee Local Health District will notify the public of any other exposure sites of public concern as soon as they are known."
On Thursday afternoon, director of Catholic Education with Wagga Diocese Elizabeth O'Carrigan confirmed a member of the diocesan school community had been diagnosed with COVID-19 in a statement.
Parents at the school are taking the situation very seriously, said Kildare mum Paula Gray.
Mrs Gray said she was very impressed with how the school has handled the situation so far, but with over-12s only recently becoming eligible for COVID jabs returning to school is a concern for her.
"These are our children and they aren't all vaccinated yet," she said. "At this point I'd be hesitant about sending [my son] back to school on Monday."
Ms Carrigan confirmed the school will be closed until at least Friday.
"The College has become non-operational from 2.00 pm and for the remainder of today and tomorrow, while contact tracing is conducted and deep cleaning of the school is undertaken," Ms Carrigan said.
The plan following the weekend at this stage is understood to be a return to classrooms by Monday.
Entrances to the school were closed off and a long line of cars was seen outside the main entrance.
The school was informed of the positive case on Thursday morning as Ms O'Carrigan said they are working with NSW Health to ensure strategies are in place to address any developments.
So far other diocesan schools have not been closed, with Henschke Primary sending correspondence to parents confirming the school will continue to operate as normal tomorrow.
It comes as the MLHD confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 in the area in the 24 hours to 8PM on Wednesday, among them a staff member at Deniliquin Hospital.
