The association was hellbent on waiting as long as possible to give seasons every chance of being completed. But the state government's edict that community sport can't restart until 80 per cent of the population is double vaccinated forced their hand.
Wagga Hockey president Ken Larkin said midway through the month they would battle on as long as possible. But earlier this week they conceded defeat.
"It's disappointing for our players because they only had a short season last year and were hoping to get through this year," Larkin said earlier this month.
"To be honest they don't get value for money when that happens. We have to find a way to compensate for that next season, or even hold a competition over summer."
Minor premierships and annual awards will be presented via a Facebook event sometime over the coming weeks.
