As of Sunday, 49.3 per cent of Riverina residents over 15 have received both doses of a COVID vaccine.
he Riverina is ranked 19 out of 28 geographic regions in the state in terms of the fully-vaccinated rate.
Murrumbidgee Local Health District chief executive Jill Ludford called the region's vaccination numbers "extraordinary".
When it comes to single doses for over 15s, the Riverina has this week reached 77.7 per cent. This is an increase of more than seven per cent, compared to last week's rate of 72.1 per cent.
The Riverina is ranked 20 out of 28 geographic regions in terms of single doses, rising slightly from last week's ranking of 23.
Ms Ludford said the MLHD last week administered its highest numbers of COVID vaccines in one week, as more supply of the Pfizer jab arrives at the state-run vaccination clinics.
"We did close to 3000 vaccines across the region last week, 2940," she said.
"And so far since March we have delivered 41,788 jabs into people's arms across our region."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The chief executive said that the health district takes its mobile vaccination clinic to areas where there is less access to the jab through GPs and pharmacies, and this week the focus is on Deniliquin.
"There's improvements that we could see to the vaccination rates in that region and we are doing a vulnerable super Saturday population walk-in clinic on Saturday in Deniliquin," she said.
"That's a walk-in clinic that will operate and will give priority to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people."
