Kerb and guttering works will continue until October 8 between 7 am and 5 pm in the city's industrial precinct.
The works are suspected to cause some inconveniences to businesses and commuters with reductions to speed limits and closures of parking lanes in place.
WWCC has specified that the preliminary work is necessary before contractors begin repairing the roads' surfaces.
Council Director Operations Warren Faulkner stated the roads were due for an upgrade, and preliminary work is a welcome sign of progress underway.
"We have taken on board the feedback from the community, and we know these roads require these works to accommodate the daily traffic flow to an important area of the city," Mr Faulkner said.
"Planning and design for the full rehabilitation will be completed soon and it is our aim to have these two major arterial roads completely."
"These will be scheduled as night works to minimise disruption in the area."
Plans to rehabilitate the busy strips are estimated to cost $5.6 million and are jointly funded by the Australian Government, NSW Government, and Wagga Wagga City Council.
The project is aiming for completion by the end of February 2022.
