The 'Dig in for Domestic Violence' campaign is urging the community to help those in need, in a bid to spread kindness throughout the region.
Donations of bare essential items and store vouchers will be given to the Wagga Women's Health Centre (WWHC) and Sisters Housing Enterprise.
"We not asking for people to directly donate money, what we need are items that can be given to the women and children that turn to these services," Mr Elliott said.
"A lot of the ladies and children that go to these centres have left situations with just the clothes on their back."
Mr Elliott's endeavour to support the community following the recent COVID lockdown led him to forge the initiative.
IN OTHER NEWS
"I'm a born and bred Wagga boy, and I know a lot of people, so I thought I could use that to my advantage to get a lot of people involved," Mr Elliott said.
"I just felt that so much of the news we read is negative, and there is so much doom and gloom around that I wanted to even the ledger a little bit."
The campaign encourages those who can to 'dig in' and donate essentials such as non-perishable foods, grooming products, and vouchers to supermarkets or clothing stores.
WWHC crisis worker Jackie Sellar offered tips to those thinking about donating.
"With non-perishable food, think of things they can cook that doesn't require a fire burner stove or an oven, that are easy and nutritious, or food vouchers as it allows them to choose what they need," Ms Sellar said.
"We get women escaping domestic violence that have nothing and potentially need transport, possibly a train to another town ... we don't have the funding to provide a train ticket or a night in a motel at the moment."
