Long-running businesses Workout Wagga and Airborne Gymnastics say they are hoping to retain their leases of council buildings as council opens the properties up to the broader public.

Earlier this month Wagga City Council announced they are seeking Expression of Interest submissions from parties interested in leasing the properties at Bolton Park Stadium and the Oasis Aquatic Centre.
Airborne has occupied the gymnasium for 23 years, while the gym inside the aquatic centre has been home to Workout Wagga for more than 30 years.
Both business owners say they have no plans to move, and will be submitting their own expressions of interest to renew their current lease agreements and extend the period by at least five years.
Lyndal Appleton-Seymour is the owner and operator of Airborne Gymnastics. She said the EOI process is just a formality and they fully expect to remain in the building, and secure a better lease.

"It's annoying that it has to go out to the public EOI, but we're planning on staying where we are," Ms Appleton-Seymour said. "We started here in 1998, now our first gymnasts are bringing their children and grandchildren and we are planning on staying for the next generation."
The gym is hoping to secure a longer-term five-year lease after being on a week to week agreement since 2016, if their EOI is accepted.
Workout Wagga owner Jared Kahlefeldt said he similarly found the EOI process frustrating, but was confident they would retain the lease and continue serving the community.
"We definitely will be applying through the EOI because we don't want to be moving anywhere, we're very happy with where we're at," Mr Kahlefeldt said. "We've been here for over 30 years, we're long standing tenants and we have a good rental history here."
He said he was frustrated with the public EOI after attempts to lock in a longer lease in the previous 24 months, but was largely positive that their lease would be retained.
"My take on that is it is extremely frustrating," he said. "We've been wanting to lock down a new lease for many years now and council has refused to acknowledge that."
"We are confident with our rental history and long term tenancy we would stand a very good chance of securing the new lease."
