Only Menangle, Melton and Bendigo have faster track records after Star Major clocked a mile rate of 1:50.3 on Friday.
It wasn't just the track record that shows how the track has responded to having a new surface put down but 1:56.7 was the slowest winning mile rate over the seven 1740-metre races on the program.
Wagga president Terry McMillan is thrilled with how it is racing after more .
"(The works) have made a big difference and the curator is doing a good job on it," McMillan said.
"Even the lower class horses are running good times and that's good for owners and trainers if they want to sell their horse if they are running good times here."

AFTER five straight seconds, West Wyalong trainer Peter Birks looked to have scored a breakthrough win with Charlotte Caslick only to be denied in the stewards room.
Instead Headturner was declared the winner following interference in the final 100 metres.
Riverina participants also had mixed fortunes in the stewards room at Menangle on Saturday.
Rusty Crackers was relegated to second after he was deemed to have caused interference which ultimately hindered Malcolms Rhythm when galloping at the top of the home straight.
Ashley Hart drove the winner.
Rusty Crackers needs to trial satisfactorily twice before being able to race again.
However Cherishthememories, who was bred by Dianne Kelly, was elevated to first two races later.
