After finishing second in last year's edition with Redouble, Beer will be represented by Sunrise Ruby in the feature at Randwick on October 16.

Beer was able to strike a deal with a Merimbula oyster farmer Darren Death on Sunday.

The slot holder first made contact with Beer on Friday and after a couple of days of negotiations they agreed to a deal that would have Sunrise Ruby represent his slot.

Beer was thrilled to secure Sunrise Ruby's place in the field.

"Absolutely. After having been there last year and going close, as they say, you've got to be in it to win it," Beer said.

"It's one thing having the right horse, but we stuck to our guns by not overtaxing her. It's one thing getting a slot but you want to make sure you're going there 110 per cent.

"She's been able to have a week in the paddock, freshen up and now that we're in, I can really sit down and plan every day until we get there."

Beer is keen to have Sunrise Ruby fresh for the feature race and will not start her again before the Kosciuszko.

He is likely to trial her, or give her a jump out, two weeks before the main event.

"She'll jump out or trial a fortnight out and then we'll get her up there," he said.

Beer is confident the four-year-old mare, a winner of four of her six starts, won't be making up the numbers in the Kosciuszko.

"We've seen her off a hot speed at Randwick with Bossy on her, what she can do," he said.

"Whether it rains it doesn't matter, if it's dry, it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter what she draws, the fact that we're able to freshen up and attack it, is massive.

"With Philipsburg winning the Highway (on Saturday), for the limited form that's around her, it just keeps franking up. She's won a quality Highway, not everything worked out for her at her second start (in Sydney) but she proved that she's better than Highway grade and I'm just rapt that we're going to get the chance to showcase her in a race we want to."

Beer said he looks forward to the journey ahead with the slot holder.

"I'm over the moon. The slot holder's been great to deal with and it's great to be involved with someone that bought a small amount of tickets, he's jagged one and he's as excited to be involved as what we are," he said.

Meantime, Corowa sprinter Front Page did his Kosciuszko chances no harm with a solid 10^th in the group two Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.

He remains the $6.00 favourite for the race and has been strongly linked with the William Farrer Hotel's Super Punters Club (SPC), who have two slots in the race, due to last year's deal.

Six positions remain for the Kosciuszko and Wagga trainers Gary Colvin and Chris Heywood have both held discussions with slot holders about their respective stable stars, Another One and Blitzar, and are waiting to hear back.
