New data from the federal government shows that as of Sunday, 40.1 per cent of people over 15 in the Riverina are fully vaccinated, up from 35.4 per cent last week.

The number of people with at least one dose of the vaccine has also risen, currently sitting at 65.9 per cent in the Riverina.

This is a growth of more than 9 per cent, up from last week's figure of 60.3 per cent.

In terms of fully vaccinated individuals, the Riverina is ranked 14 out of 28 geographical regions in New South Wales, placing it squarely in the middle.

When it comes to single doses the Riverina rates lower, sitting at 23^rd place out of the 28 regions.

Individual local government areas across the Riverina are also seeing an increase in their vaccination rates.

The Murrumbidgee Local Health District's COVID-19 coordinator Emma Field said that the appetite for vaccination amongst 16 to 39 year-old's is "very big".

"On the day that that opened up, we had thousands of people register into these clinics and certainly that's what we're seeing and hearing across all of the vaccine providers and clinics, they're saying the same, which is really pleasing," she added.

Ms Field said there are higher rates of vaccination among people who had the vaccine open to them earlier, but the younger age group is expected to "really pick up".

She also said that the MLHD is working with partners in Junee to address supply issues of the vaccine, with a few strategies currently underway.

"They've got a great GP clinic out there that's really proactive in this vaccine space, so we work with them and with all the stakeholders to try and get vaccines in arms - that's our priority," Ms Field said.
