Wagga driving instructor Paul Dawson said it is pretty rare for a learner's licence to run out as they have a five-year expiry.
He said the more prevalent issue is students who need to get their p-plater licence but are unable to sit for the test, and eager drivers should prepare to wait.
"There will now be a five-week backlog of people who need to sit for their tests, as well as everyone else who will finish their hours during lockdown," Mr Dawson said.
"A lot of the kids need their licence so they can get their work otherwise the boss has to run them around.
"So it can impact their ability to get a job and it can impact businesses as well. These are the hidden issues."
Under current health orders, parents are still allowed to supervise their children who are learning to drive.
