Hodge started the season brilliantly for Southcity, scoring hat-tricks in each of their first three games before missing half the season after picking up an elbow injury.
The Country representative then suffered ligament damage to his ankle in his return game last month.
Both problems have come in losses against Tumut.
Hodge has only just started to get back on his feet knowing the extra time will only help his recovery.
Now he hopes there is still plenty to play for.
"I've still been able to go to the physio and have only just started running," Hodge said. "If the season comes back hopefully it's all good by then.
"I probably could have pushed it but I don't really need to now so I've been just taking it easy in order to strengthen it back up.
"The extra time will definitely help me."
Group Nine have locked in a plan to extend the season late into October.
October 23 is most likely grand final date but there is a contingency to hold on until October 30.
Hodge and his Bulls teammates are keen to try to get a result to what shapes as a very promising finals series.
"Everyone is pretty keen to get back and I know everyone has been training and ripping in still, doing what they can so they're ready to go," he said.
"I know it is hard to train properly but everyone I've talked to is pretty keen to come back and get a result.
"Anyone could win it and normally it is only a top two or a top three sort of thing.
"When it comes back it will be pretty exciting."
After missing so much of the season, Hodge definitely feels he's got some unfinished business.
"I've only played four games so I'm keen to get back and play a couple more," he said. "Hopefully it does get back."
If lockdown ends as currently planned this week, clubs will be given two weeks to train before the finals start on September 25.
Southcity will host Young however the plan is to revert to a top four, meaning a first-up Tumut clash, if lockdown extends another fortnight.
