An 11-year-old girl has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in the Riverina region.

About 8.20am on Saturday, emergency services attended Mid Western Highway, Rankin Springs, about 65 kilometres north of Griffith, following reports a Ford Transit van travelling east had crossed to the other side of the road and crashed into a tree.
The passenger - a 11-year-old girl - was freed from the vehicle by witnesses and administered CPR, however tragically she died at the scene.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The driver of the vehicle - a 51-year-old woman - was uninjured. She was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District have established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
The Mid Western Highway remains closed in both directions about two kilometres east of Rankin Springs with traffic diversions in place.
