Overseas born residents and seasonal workers are just as likely to catch and spread COVID-19 however are currently not able to access vaccination from General Practices as they do not possess Medicare cards.
Instead, they must travel to Commonwealth and State vaccinations hubs who can provide vaccinations without a Medicare Card.
This, however, brings with it its own difficulties particularly for those who work and reside a long distance away.
In a statement by the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN), the Federal organisation acknowledged the difficulties that those without Medicare Cards face in accessing vaccination against the novel coronavirus.
"General practices are not able to administer COVID-19 vaccines to people without a Medicare card as the MBS system relies on access to Medicare," Julie Redway, Acting CEO of the MPHN said.
"In addition, GP's are prohibited for charging for the services under the COVID-19 National Rollout program.
"I acknowledge the challenges faced by people living in rural and remote parts of our region however the Commonwealth and State vaccination hubs are the only providers approved to administer the vaccines to people without a Medicare card."
Member for Murray Helen Dalton said that it made 'no sense' as to why members of the community were being excluded from vaccinations.
"Everyone in Australia should be able to get vaccinated at the clinic nearest to them," Mrs Dalton said.
"It shouldn't be that hard for the Australian Government to reimburse GP's for those vaccinated without a Medicare Card."

Member for Farrer, Sussan Ley told The Area News that she had already assisted one group of overseas workers access vaccinations in Griffith, and would continue to assist others.
"I want to assure our entire community that the vaccinations are free for everyone regardless of your Medicare or visa status and, despite some challenges, we will find a way to help you access that," Mrs Ley said.
"Some workers may also be unaware that you can apply for Medicare if you have a certain valid temporary visa.
"People are welcome to contact my office for clarification or assistance."
