After a weekend of above-average, spring-like temperatures, the region is set to cop a blast of cool, wet and windy weather.

The Bureau of Meteorology has warned sheep graziers that cold temperatures, rain and showers and northerly winds are expected during Monday in the South West Slopes and parts of the Riverina.

"There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions," the bureau's warning said.
Up to 10 millimetres of rain is possible in Wagga on Monday, with the potential for gusty winds. A top of 17 degrees is forecast in the city.
The cool change follows a weekend of warmth weather across the region, with daytime temperatures as high as 10 degrees above average for this time of year.
As of 4.30pm, the mercury had peaked at 21.7 degrees in Wagga, 25.5 at Griffith and 27.4 in Hay.
The average August daytime temperature in Wagga is 14.5 degrees, while in Hay that figure is 17.5.
The spring-like conditions are the result of warm north to northwesterly winds ahead of the approaching cold front, the bureau said.
The cold front is due to pass through western and southern parts of NSW during Monday, bringing with it a fresh to strong southwest to southerly change.
Wagga can expect top temperatures of just 13 degrees on Tuesday, 14 degrees on Wednesday and 15 on Thursday.
