The site was designed to offer fast results with no appointment necessary.
MLHD COVID-19 Coordinator Emma Field said the drive through clinic was very popular on its opening day, with 60 tests completed by 3pm.
"MLHD's drive through clinic provides an additional option to the existing testing clinics in Wagga and will open each day from 10am - 6pm. These hours will continue for as long as the demand for testing is there," she said.
"Over 4000 tests have been completed in MLHD in the past week, and with positive case numbers continuing to increase in NSW we expect that demand for testing will also increase."
The MLHD set up the new testing site on Wednesday in response to greater demand for testing with quicker turnaround times.
People who use the new testing site will not be able to get out of their cars while waiting or being tested, and staff at the site will not be able to enter any vehicles.
For those reasons, the MLHD has recommended that people seeking to get children tested use Wagga's other testing sites instead.
