The then-18-year-old was last seen alive in 2002, after she left a campground at Jingellic on March 30.
Niamh had spent the summer fruit picking in Batlow and was set to meet her sister in Sydney, but never made the journey.
A subsequent coronial inquest determined she had died at or near Tumut at that March weekend.
A NSW Police spokesperson said as part of ongoing inquiries into the disappearance of Ms Maye, officers attached to Riverina Police District conducted a search in Tumut on Wednesday.
They however have not released any more details of the search.
