It is the likely kick-off point for exciting Wagga galloper Another One with trainer Gary Colvin considering a change in plan after his impressive trial on Sunday.
Another One was not asked to do too much and hit the line under his own steam for a strong second behind Albury sprinter Jawwaal in a trial at Wagga on Sunday.
In a strong trial line-up that included a number of Kosciuszko hopefuls, Jawwaal was pushed along to score by three and a half lengths in a time of 58.55 for the 1000 metres.
Wagga pair Another One and Blitzar filling the minor placings, both hitting the line strongly in eye-catching performances.
Colvin thought the trial was perfect.
"I was very happy (with the trial). Very happy," Colvin said.
"We didn't knock him around. They ran 58.55 and they ran home 35.03 (last 600m) and he was on the bit so it was good.
"We haven't got on the track much, we haven't been using the grass so I'm very happy with him."
Colvin had picked out a race at Randwick on August 21 for Another One, but is now considering holding off for the sprint on his home track at Wagga five days later.
It is likely to see a number of the Southern District's Kosciuszko candidates clash with Mitch Beer also considering the race for last-start Highway winner Sunrise Ruby.
Another potential starters include Jawwaal, Lady Brook and Underwood.
"The way things are going, we might even wait here for Wagga with the open handicap, the Ian Reid Sprint," Colvin said.
"Going there (to Sydney), I don't want to knock him around with all the COVID stuff. There's a few things you can't do.
"We do have that race in Sydney on the 21st but I think we might just stay home. I think it will be a pretty strong race and we're probably better off going there."

Beer confirmed Jawwaal is on a path towards a potential Kosciuszko run. It was his first trial since running second at Flemington last September when a tendon injury halted his push towards the $1.3 million feature.
"I tried to get him there last year but he got injured so we'll look at that again this time," Beer said.
"At the same time, I'm not going to bust him to prove a point. We'll take him to the races now and if he gets a slot, he gets a slot."
Beer is considering either the Ian Reid Sprint or a midweek trip to Sydney with Jawwaal.
Blitzar is also in the market for the Kosciuszko and trainer Chris Heywood was rapt with his trial.
He is eyeing a Highway Handicap or a race on Ian Reid Sprint day to kick off Blitzar's campaign.
