An undermanned Charles Sturt University produced a powerful response to a disappointing run of losses - and a glimpse to a bright future too - downing an in-form Temora by six goals on Saturday.

The 15.6 (96) to 9.7 (61) win at Peter Hastie Oval was the Bushpigs' first since overcoming Barellan in early April, and was the ideal tonic after their lowest score last week, kicking just two goals at North Wagga.
In contrast to CSU, Temora came in on the back of their strongest month, with three wins in their last four.
They led by a goal at quarter-time but CSU's six goals in the second quarter helped set them on track for a strong win and they exploded a five-point lead at half-time out to 35 points by full-time.
"I'd say it was our best win of the year, by far," CSU coach Travis Cohalan said, praising the 'Pigs' commitment to each other.
"We had eight or nine first graders out and picked six blokes who'll be playing twos finals in two weeks.
"We asked the boys to dig in, have a crack, not give up on each other, and bring a hard work rate and pressure around the footy and I thought it was easily the best win of the year."
Temora were without their matchwinner Will Reinhold but the missing Bushpigs players included arguably their most important, Andrew Dickins, as well as Grant Daly, Connor Kelly and Angus Blackwood.
Although they led by less than a goal at the main break, CSU had taken control and were starting to play the game their way, getting on the outside of Temora.
They maintained the momentum in the third, with four goals to one and then finished it off strongly. Jacob Collingridge booted four goals and Riley McNab and Harry Wakefield three each.
But Ben Browning and Max Findlay got them going out of the middle, under ruckman Ryan Feuerherdt who was on debut.
The Bushpigs will finish the season in sixth spot, likely a couple of wins outside the five but well clear of the bottom three teams, regardless of results next week.
Cohalan said a spirited win was invaluable for the club.
"We recognised it was our grand final - we wanted to prove that we're the best team outside the finals this year," he said.
"Temora have been playing good footy so it was good to front up. We knew we'd have to play well to beat them and the boys rose to the occasion. We had a bit of a point to prove I thought, and we did it well.
"It was very pleasing. The important thing is, five or six of these guys will play twos finals next week, then they're all recommitted so we're building for next year."
Browning and Findlay are players of the future based on their efforts, Lachie Moore was inspiring again and forward McNab impressed in just his second senior game.
Jack Cullen had a crack up forward for Temora while Joe Morton booted four goals.
