The Tigers went to their clash against Kangaroos without five of their best players, but fired early to set up a commanding 44-12 victory at Anzac Park on Saturday.
Gundagai scored three times in the first 16 minutes to leap out to a solid lead.
Co-coach Jarrod Crane was thrilled with how the team responded to an interrupted preparation.
"It's been an interesting week with lots of injuries and we weren't able to train with the grounds closed on us so it halted preparations a little bit but I'm so pleased with the blokes who have come in and have just got the job done," Crane said.
"We had a massive emphasis on our starts and really wanted to get through our sets, kick long, jam them in the corners and I thought the boys really executed that in the first half. It set us up in the end."

Vaughn Scott capitalised on a strong kick return to open the scoring after five minutes.
Royce Tout then strolled through following a blunder at the back by Kangaroos before Will Herring scored off his own kick to make it 16-0.
Herring stepped into the five-eighth role this week with James Smart and Ryan McQueen on the sidelines.
Crane was pleased with how he stepped up to the mark.
"Will Herring has played a little bit of first grade here and there over the last couple of years and has really dominated reserve grade," he said. "He finally got his shot and I thought he stood up and showed us why he deserves a spot in first grade."
Gundagai then captialised on another Kangaroos mistake when gifted another set on their line after captain Zac Graham gave away a penalty on the last tackle.
Damian Willis crossed from dummy half however Kangaroos did have a stroke of luck as James Strickland plucked an intercept and raced 90 metres to score.
Strickland's effort against the run of play saw the Wagga side trail 20-6 at half-time.
However Gundagai soon got back on track when Derek Hay scored off a scrum move after another mistake at the back five minutes into the second half.
The Tigers then scored two tries in four minutes to extend their buffer as Willis collected his second before Jake Elphick was on the end of a fortuitous bounce off a Hay kick to score.
James Luff added to the Wagga side's woes when went over from dummy half.
Kangaroos scored a consolation try with three remaining before another of the new Tigers faces, Corey Wilson, then completed the rout as he swooped on a loose ball before racing away to score with no time left on the clock.
Gundagai now tackle Young and Southcity in the final two weeks of the season.
After easing past the two sides in the running for fifth spot in their last two games, Crane hopes they can step up to the challenge of two sides above them on the ladder.
"Hopefully we will welcome back a few boys but if not with the 17 boys who stepped up today if we are going to complete and build pressure like that we're confident we can beat anyone," he said.
