The Sturt Highway in central Wagga could again see traffic disrupted as roadside maintenance continues for a second day around the railway underpass.
The east and southbound turning lanes at the Edward and Tarcutta street intersection were closed on Thursday morning to allow the nature strip works out front of the Homebase shopping centre.
As a result, traffic was backed up for 700 metres down the highway and Baylis and Morgan also saw higher congestion.
Wagga City Council plans to carry out similar roadside landscape maintenance on Friday morning.
"This will result in changed traffic conditions between 9.30am and 12.30pm," the spokeperson said.
"The works involve removing some plants as there were safety concerns related to clear vision issues for motorists.
"Council will re-plant the area with a more appropriate species which will also help to beautify the entrance to the city centre.
"Council has a road occupancy licence and the approval of the road authority, Transport for NSW, to carry out the works between these times."

Maintenance work at nature strip on Wagga's Edward Street has caused traffic to back up along the Sturt Highway and Baylis Street.
The east and southbound turning lanes at the Edward and Tarcutta street intersection were closed on Thursday morning to allow the works out front of the Homebase shopping centre.
As a result, eastbound traffic has slowed to a crawl for 700 metres between Baylis Street and Tarcutta Street and Livetraffic is reporting slow progress along Baylis, Morgan and Tarcutta streets.
One driver said it took her 15 minutes to drive from Baylis Street to Tarcutta Street along the Sturt Highway and saw other drivers give up on the queue and U-turn back west.
The details on the roadwork itself was not listed on the Livetraffic service or the Wagga City Council website.
