Bus services have been changed for "safety reasons" as police investigate a suspected rock throwing incident.

About 5pm on Saturday, officers attached to Riverina Police District were patrolling Fernleigh Road, Ashmont, when they stopped a bus and spoke to the driver.
He told police the rear driver's side window of the bus had been smashed by a rock while it was travelling on Connorton Avenue, Ashmont, 15 minutes earlier.
The driver and passengers were not injured.

A spokesperson for Busabout Wagga said to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers, Routes 962 and 963 have now been amended.
"Changes will remain in place until further notice," they said.
"School services are also impacted. Busabout encourages effected families to make enquires with our office by calling 5642 6600."
