The 21-year-old combined with her grandfather Garry Worsnop for their first win together when Tough James ($9.50) stormed home to capture the NSW Jockey's Association Class One Handicap (1000m).
Worsnop only began race-riding on Boxing Day last year and was able to land her first winner for her grandfather, who she was apprenticed to, at Gundagai.
It was the third win of her career.
Tough James, who gained a start as the second emergency, relished the heavy conditions and raced away to score by a length from Bleue's Choice ($3.90) and Polished Diamond ($20).
It was a good reward for Wornsop, who has ridden the five-year-old at her previous eight starts leading into her Gundagai success.
It was Tough James' second win, with both having come at Gundagai.
Wagga trainer Gary Colvin started the new season with a win as Zarsnip ($8.50) charged home to take out the Tooheys Extra Dry C,G&E Benchmark 58 Handicap (1180m).
Zarsnip, ridden by Brodie Loy, got the photo finish from Butch'N'Bugs ($7.00) by a nose.
George Dimitropoulos and Molly Bourke teamed up for another winner, with Mouse Almighty ($8.50) taking out the XXXX Gold F&M Benchmark 58 Handicap (1180m).
Worsnop was not far away from a winning double after guiding Sestina ($3.80) to a close second.
It gives Bourke five winners from her last 25 rides, after landing a winner at Sapphire Coast last week.
Meantime, leading Southern District jockey Blaike McDougall stood himself down mid-meeting at Gundagai on Monday.
McDougall suffered a fall at Forbes on Sunday and was still feeling the effects from it at Gundagai and stood himself down after three rides.
