In just one week, seven break-ins were reported in the the Wagga suburbs of Bourkelands and Lloyd, with cash, mobile phones, jewellery and other personal belongings stolen.

Officers began an investigation into the string of incidents, including trying to determine if any of them were linked.

Police were told entry to the homes was gained via unlocked doors, smashed windows and by forcing garage doors open.

About 10.40pm on Thursday, officers were called to a home on Bedervale Street in Bourkelands, following reports a mobile phone had been stolen during a break and enter.

As part of inquiries, police went to nearby Kaloona Drive, where they discovered nine other break and enter offences had occurred on the street.

Superintendent Bob Noble said officers "flooded" the area and formed a perimeter in an attempt to flush the man out.

Following a search, officers located a man at a reserve near Yanko Crescent about 11.55pm.

"They apprehended this male, who was hiding in a bush," Superintendent Noble said.

"This is very good news that this person has been apprehended, and I want to give a shout out to the hardworking police."

The 44-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga police station.

He was charged with 23 offences, including aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, break and enter dwelling-house with intent, and break, enter and steal.

The Tolland man appeared at Wagga Local Court via video link on Friday afternoon, but made no application for bail. He will remain in custody until the next court date on September 22.
