'The Kick for Kurtis' event was initiated by Howard Brown from the Tigers, who played alongside Kurtis' father Troy Scott, a former Wagga resident.
Kurtis' mother Sharni Scott (nee Trotter) is also well known in the region, hailing from Lockhart.
The idea came after Mr Scott organised a similar event at Kurtis' AFL club in Queensland, which is planned for Friday.
"I was good mates with Troy for a long, long time, I played footy with him at the Wagga Tigers when he was living in Wagga," Mr Brown said.

"Troy had a pretty close bond with both his sons, with Kurtis having a younger brother. So he was pretty close with the boys and with COVID in place and no one able to get up there, Troy organised a 'Kick for Kurtis' at Maroochydore.
"Then the idea was thrown towards a couple of us down here that we should maybe do a tribute at Wagga Tigers for him and as the juniors happened to be training at 5pm ... I just grabbed the idea by both hands.
"Whose heart doesn't it touch when such a young person passes either suddenly or for any reason?"
The event was originally planned to be held at Robertson Oval, although a ground closure forced it to be relocated to the Jim Elphick Tennis Centre.
The gathering was open not only to the Wagga Tigers community, but all sporting clubs that Mr Scott was involved in, and everyone that had been associated with the Scott and Trotter families.
"At the end of the day it is all about Kurtis, just a 'Kick for Kurtis' to pay tribute to a boy who really loved his sport and loved having a kick of the footy," Mr Brown said.
"Troy would on a weekly basis post on Facebook some posts of the boys doing a funny activity, both kids are super funny; I have never come across two kids that are so funny."
Mr Brown said before relocating, Mr Scott was a huge part of the Wagga community.
"There is connections with Turvey Park Football Club, Troy's brother Tristan played for Turvey," he said.
"And Troy used to manage the Red Lion Night Club and also Madison's Night Club, so he is pretty well known by a lot of sporting groups and a lot of people, he is just one of those people.
"The idea was we get anyone that knows the Scott and Trotter families.
"It's a massive loss for both of them to lose their eldest child. It is very sad for Troy, Kurtis' brother Henderson and mother Sharni."
Maroochydore AFL club will hold their Kick for Kurtis at 3.45pm on Friday.
