Henwood Park turned heads in the Pascoe Cup competition with a commanding 6-1 victory over top-four team Lake Albert at Junee.

It was a performance that certainly caught the attention of Young coach Duncan Cameron heading into a crucial fixture on Sunday.

"It's definitely a big game. We want to keep up there and this week could put us back into the top four," Cameron said.

"It wasn't a surprising result last week but not many teams can put six goals on Lake Albert so I know Henwood Park are a good team but that's a concern I guess."

The win saw Henwood Park leap into third spot, with Lake Albert dropping to fouth.

Young are the fifth team in the shootout for the top four spots, and sit just three points behind the Hawks, and one behind Lake Albert.

"I really think it's going to come down the last week, once all these games get played," Cameron said.

"We done our job in the first half of the season, where we sat in the top four, I thought that was good, without having that Wagga United game. It's good, we're giving it a good crack."

While sitting just outside the top four, Cameron could not be happier with the effort from his squad.

"It's really good. The depth of the young fellas, they're all listening and taking everything on board, which is great," he said.

"There hasn't been a game this year, where I thought why didn't we do this or have to say what's going on because everyone's been putting in so it's really good."

Young enjoyed a 3-1 win over Henwood Park at Hall Bros Oval earlier in the season. Cameron said they will take confidence from that result heading into Sunday's return bout.

"Yeah definitely. They were a little bit undermanned that day but we've come a long way since then as well," he said.

"We're missing one this week, which is a bit annoying for us. Clancy Hislop won't be playing. But other than last week we haven't had our full team on the park all year, it's something that we've dealt with each week and it's good that we've still been getting results.

"It will be a tough one but I'm confident the boys will give it a real good crack."

Young planned to celebrate their 50^th anniversary last weekend, but things did not go according to plan.

The anniversary dinner was cancelled due to COVID restrictions, before the wet weather completed the job of ruining the planned celebrations.

"We had to cancel the dinner because of COVID, which was annoying, and then it all sort of went down hill from there," Cameron said.

"We were meant to have the big club day (but lower grades got washed out). We forfeited our home game and gave it to Cootamundra because our field was too wet."

The club hopes to combine the anniversary dinner with the presentation night at season's end.
