Schnitty, as he was affectionately known, was found dumped at a local vet earlier this year, riddled with cancer and given only months to live.
He was taken in by Jessica Weir from the Riverina and District Animal Rescue, who said that he quickly became part of the family.

"We had him for four months, which is over double what we thought he was going to be around for," she said.
Ms Weir's mission was to make Schnitty's remaining time on earth the best it could be, forming a bucket list of fun of things to do - which the community helped make happen.
"As a rescue group you see the worst side of humanity a lot ... so it's refreshing and restores our faith in humanity a little bit to see the whole community get behind [him]," she said.
"The life he led has meant that he was loved by thousands and we take comfort in the fact that we don't grieve his loss alone."
