Councillors are calling for greater diversity in the upcoming Wagga elections, but I am not fooled.

Will you be?
Putting this out there now. Any white male who spruiks 'diversity' while standing in the number one position on their group ticket for the local government election is paying lip service.
They know that they're likely the only person in their group with any probability of being elected because of the way the proportional preferential system works in local government elections.
Will Tim Koschel and Rod Kendall be prepared to go number two on their ticket to stand by their diversity campaign?
Or are they assuming the majority of our residents are easy fooled?

WHAT WILL WE LEAVE FOR OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS?
Here's a quick run through of a few "snapshots" of how our present and future look under the current government.
Serial climate denialist Barnaby Joyce now leads the Nationals - the "farmers' party" that has seen our scarce water resources turned into an international commodity for the highest bidder, forcing farmers out of that market.
In our Parliament, women are bullied, subjected to sexist behaviour, with allegations of rape and their concerns ignored.
Eight young people, fearing their future under climate change, have won a ruling in court directing federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley to consider their future in environmental decisions.
Ley's response? To appeal against this ruling. Message? Fossil fuel billionaires are more important than your children.
This from a government that has allowed Adani's climate-destroying mine to drive Indigenous people from their lands - for the "crime" of trying to halt the poisoning of their land and water. A fair go?
The UK, EU and US are set to to impose border tariffs on all climate recalcitrant countries. That means us.
What future for Australian businesses? The Business Council, unions, banks and insurers all want a net zero emissions date set. The government's response? More mines and fracking.
As seas rise (as predicted), more Pacific islands are inundated. Morrison ignores their pleas for emissions reduction.
In the tropics, farmers struggle with climate as their lands dry up and crop yields fall. Where do you think these millions will flee to as conditions worsen? Take a guess.
Rort after rort from the feds. Without consequence. Their re-election will set in concrete an endemic culture of corruption.
A Saturday Paper editorial (July 17) stated: "this government has been in power since 2013. It has stumbled without purpose or ideas for almost a decade ... there has been no vision for the country."
Parents and grandparents will be quick to assert their love for their children and grandchildren.
Yet how many will bother, when they next vote, to consider the Australia they are leaving them. I wonder.
