The Wanderers men went down to the second-placed O'Connor Knights 8-0 at Hawker Football Centre in Canberra on Sunday.
The Wanderers made the trip undermanned and struggled to match it with the impressive Knights' outfit, who sit just one point from top spot in the NPL Two competition with a game in hand.
The Wanderers struggled from the outset and went into half-time 5-0 down.
To their credit, they lifted after the break and produced a much better second half.
David McCarron was the chief destroyer with a first half hat-trick.
Meantime, the Wanderers women went down 12-0 to Belconnen United at AIS Synthetic in Canberra on Saturday.
The depleted Wanderers conceded six goals in the opening 30 minutes and from there it was always going to be difficult against the ladder leaders.
Talia Backhouse and Reilly Yuen each scored three goals for Belconnen.
